Christchurch City Council Media Release 10 Nov 2000

Public’s Day At Bus Exchange

The public will be able to see the new Christchurch Bus Exchange tomorrow, Saturday 11 November - and party at the same time.

Celebrations - called Party at the X - will be held in the City Mall and the Bus Exchange.

The Exchange open day and the Xparty will be held from 10am to 4pm.

Entrances to the Bus Exchange are by the ramp on Colombo Street, from Cashel Plaza on Cashel Street and through the first-floor food court in The Crossing shopping complex.

It will also be possible to get into the Exchange from Ballantynes by the air bridge.

Two bands, Fab 3 and UMU, will perform in the City Mall amphitheatre from 11.30 until 3pm.

Two hours free parking will be provided in the Lichfield Street car park and The Car Park at the Crossing, above the Bus Exchange.

Also, RedBus is providing a $2 return family pass (two adults and three children) for travel to and from the Exchange.

Children will be given balloons, be able to enter a chalk drawing competition, and there will be entertainment with street entertainers, such as stilt-walkers and clowns.

The Bus Exchange, a collaborative project among the Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury, and the Carter Development Group, will open for business on 20 November.
