With Halloween setting the scene this week for late night excitement, The Meridian Energy Fireworks Extravaganza will light up the city sky this Sunday November 5th at 9.30pm.

Meridian Energy are inviting under 15 year-olds to get creative and make a Guyfawks Guy! Guys can be made of anything, but must feature the Meridian Energy logo (available from Meridian Energy or from competition forms published in city papers). Deliver them to Meridian Energy at 67 Gloucester Street before 5pm Friday 3rd, OR to the New Brighton Mall between 5 and 8pm Sunday November 5th. The winner will receive a fabulous Ryda Scooter and a $500 credit off their Meridian Energy Account!
Fire Service South would like to remind residents to be especially safe around fireworks this year, We encourage people to attend public fireworks displays where fireworks are lit in a controlled environment. says Ian Flemming, Fire Safety Officer.
The City Council Leisure Events team would like to remind people NOT to bring dogs to the fireworks celebrations, and to ensure that all pets at home are confined in a safe place on fireworks night. Dont bring you own fireworks to the beach, and the lighting of Guys on the beach will not be permitted. Additionally there will be no life-guards on duty, so swimming is actively discouraged.
This event is presented by Christchurch City Council Leisure, and Meridian Energy with the support of 92Morefm and the Christchurch Star.
