Christchurch City Council Media Release 24 March 2000

Model Proves Popular

A glimpse at the future of part of the Christchurch’s central city can be seen at Ballantynes store.

A model of the new Bus Exchange is in the shop and it is attracting great interest.

Richard Ballantyne, managing director of Ballantynes, says the model is helpful in showing people what the future will look like.

The Christchurch City Council’s City Centre Marketing Co-ordinator, Melanie Williams, says the model will remain in the store until Wednesday and then it will be moved to the Triangle Centre, next to the Robert Harris Coffee Shop.

The Bus Exchange at The Crossing is expected to be open in October-November.

Ms Williams said many retailers in the area were excited about the changes and she says when the Bus Exchange, with its car park, is open it will make it easier for people to visit the central city.
