Letterbox Sticker To Tackle Litter

A No Advertising Please! sticker for letterboxes has been devised to fight litter.

The Keep Christchurch Beautiful Campaign is issuing the stickers free.

They can be screwed to letterboxes or stuck on.

The stickers have spaces for detailing which newspapers and junk mail is to be delivered.

The Keep Christchurch Beautiful co-ordinator, Ingrid Le Fevre, says they have been produced to try to cut down excessive litter found at many letterboxes.

"How much of the junk mail is actually looked at? How much goes straight into the rubbish bin?" she says.

"We want to stop unwanted junk mail being delivered in the first place," she says.

"We think the stickers will be good for blocks of flats which seem to have big litter problems at the letter boxes," Miss Le Fevre says.

The stickers can be obtained from City Council service centres or the Keep Christchurch Beautiful office at the Civic Offices in Tuam Street.
