Jellie Park Skate Area Opening Celebration

Skating comes to the suburbs with Christchurch’s hottest new skate spot at Jellie Park now complete. To mark the completion of this new facility an opening celebration will be staged on Saturday 10 June from 12 noon to 2.00pm.

"Jellie People - a community event on skates and more…" will be a celebration the whole family can enjoy" says Community Recreation Adviser Kate Rathbun. Local skaters and break dancers will be providing demonstrations throughout the day, while local bands will perform giving the event a real community flavour. There will still be plenty of time to try out the new skate facility, and skaters are encouraged to bring their boards.

Children haven’t been forgotten either- a spectacular kite display will be one of the big draw cards, along with face painting, clowns, a bouncy castle and children’s games. Giveaways include Urge and Cool Change, kindly donated by Mainland Food Products Ltd who continue to offer support of Council’s community events.

An official opening of the facility will be held at approximately 12.30pm by Mr Keith Nuttall, Chairperson of the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board. The Community Board was instrumental in the development of the facility through their vision to have a facility for young people in the district, and the allocation of funds.
