Hot happenings at your library

Canterbury Public Library has an exciting programme of events lined up for the Turning Point 2000 TILT Youth’Zone Festival.

Running from Friday 7 April to Saturday 15 April, the festival brings together a range of events for 14-18 year olds.

State-of-the-art New Brighton Library will host a number of activities including the ‘Tony Hawk Skateboarding’ PlayStation competition on Tuesday 11 April 1 - 3.30pm, and a Sand Sculpture competition on Wednesday 12 April (or Thursday 13 April if wet) 11am - 2pm. Other events at New Brighton will run the length of the festival including a competition to capture impressions of the library in a rap, poem, story or T-shirt design.

Fendalton Library, which will open in its new building at the end of June, is running a competition to design its new youth area. And for those wanting five minutes of fame, Linwood Library’s Lip Sync on Thursday 13 April 6 - 7pm is an opportunity to sing along with the stars.

"We have lots of great prizes on offer including CD vouchers, skateboarding gear, books, vouchers from Eastgate Mall, and much more" said Sasha Bowers, the library’s promotions and publications co-ordinator.

Full details of Canterbury Public Library TILT Youth’Zone Festival events are available from all libraries.
