First Sod To Be Turned At Hornby
Christchurchs Deputy-Mayor, Lesley Keast, will turn the first sod of the first stage of the $2.9 million Hornby elderly housing project in Goulding Avenue this week.
Contractors will start work on the complex sometime after the ceremony on Wednesday 5 July at 10am on the site.
The project consists of 22 units for elderly people: nine one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom units. Of the 22 units, two will be for people with physical disabilities. A community lounge will be provided, too.
The Council is investigating the options regarding selling some of the units.
It will call for expressions of interest from the private sector for the further development of the adjoining land in partnership with the Council.
