Time Capsule For Square

A time capsule containing publications and documents from this year will be buried in Cathedral Square at 11am on Saturday.

It is a Christchurch City Council project, which is part of the 150th Canterbury anniversary celebrations. The capsule will be placed alongside the 125th Canterbury Anniversary plaque in the Square.

The stainless steel capsule, 400mm long and 150mm diameter, will be inserted in the First Four Ships Court. It will be placed in concrete and a plaque with its details fixed above it.

The chairwoman of the Environment Committee, Cr. Anna Crighton, along with Ngai Tahu representative, Terry Ryan, will perform the informal function at 11am on 16 December in Cathedral Square.
