Son et Lumière Takes Shape In Square
All is ready for the Son et Lumiere (Sound and Light) event in Cathedral Square on Saturday 16 December.
Thursday was a long night for technicians, the technical director, Gordon Fawcett, and directors, David and Matthew McPhail. They worked long into the night to get everything ready for the entertainment that will be one of the most visually exciting this country has seen.
The spectacular light and sound show will use a big technical crew, including Clipsal Vision of Australia that has installed two giant screens in the Square.
Also the Christchurch company, Lite Sight, has set up four major lighting towers and Redd Acoustics has installed amazing sound and lighting effects.
Fragments of the Son et Lumiere action and special effects on show fascinated people in the Square last night. Some looked around for the approaching train and the violent storm.
The Son et Lumiere will start at 9.50pm and will until run to 10.50pm.
Before the event the Canterbury Showcase of music down the ages will be presented from 8pm with leading Canterbury musicians.
