Residents’ Library Opinions Wanted
Opinions from residents on the proposal to build a combined library-service centre-learning centre in Beckenham are sought by the chairman of the Heathcote-Spreydon Community Board, Oscar Alpers.
He says he would like residents to get their views and suggestions into the board before Christmas.
Mr Alpers says the three public meetings this month to discuss the $4.5 million proposal went well.
All concepts were explored widely and the meetings were very useful to the progress of the project, he says.
He is a strong supporter of the concept and wants residents to put their views in writing. "I think it will be a great asset for the south of the city. I cannot see any downside in the proposal," he says.
"I want to ensure that
all residents have their say about it and the community is behind the proposal."
The Christchurch City Council has given approval in principle to the new centre.
