Palms Stolen From Botanic Gardens
Three palms and three banana palms along with canna lilies were stolen from the Botanic Gardens, near the Peacock Fountain, last night.
The plants were focal plants for the summer display giving the area a tropical look.
Some of them will be difficult to replace, says the Gardens’ Grounds Co-ordinator, Maria Adamski. The value is several hundreds of dollars, she says.
Vandalism is a constant worry for Gardens’ staff. Last month copper down pipes and spouting, worth about $1000, were stolen from two buildings in the grounds.
