Christchurch City Council Media Release 15 December 2000

2000 Visitors to Photography Exhibition

Visitors to the Central City Fresh Perspectives Photography Exhibition have reached 2,000 but this weekend is the final chance to see the exhibition of the winning and finalist (amateur) entries to the competition of the same name (designed to capture aspects of the central city of Christchurch).

The competition had a professional and an amateur section. Professional photographers were asked to submit a portfolio of 4-6 images designed to capture the unique nature or points of difference of the Central City of Christchurch. Eleven portfolios were received but only the winning entry was able to be exhibited. Mayor Garry Moore was so pleased with the response that he has invited the professional entrants to exhibit their work early in the New Year (dates to be determined).

Alongside the current exhibition is the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography's Touring Print (an exhibition of the top prints from the Institute's annual print judging competition).

Central City Fresh Perspectives - Photography Exhibition
(until 17 December 11am-5pm daily),
