Stranger than Fiction
As part of the Books & Beyond festival, popular children's author Jane Buxton will present Stranger than Fiction at the Central Library on Wednesday 2 June at 7.00pm.
Well known by thousands of children through her stories, plays and articles published in the School Journal, Jane will talk about writing non-fiction for children and offer advice to aspiring authors.
Encouraged by her parents and teachers from an early age, Jane published her first book, The Red Overalls, in 1976. She has since written a number of children's books including Down to the Shop, The Fleas and Donkey Dust.
Jane, who lives in Rangiora, is Writer-in-the-Library from 31 May-June 4. She will hold a number of non-fiction writing workshops for schoolchildren in addition to her talk on Wednesday, which is free of charge.
