Christchurch City Council Media Release Thursday 19 August 1999

South Island Y2K Forum media briefing

Council / Y2K Reporters are invited to attend a media briefing tomorrow, Friday August 20.

The objective of the Forum is to outline effective methods for testing contingency plans along with communication links on 9/9/99.

This date is important to the Y2K programme as it is being used as a ‘dress rehearsal’ to test communication links and contingency plans that will be used during the transition to the new millennium.

Council Y2K Project Manager John de Zwart, members of the Y2K Project Team and David Brunsdon, National Lifelines Co-ordinator will be able to answer questions.

Please note: the term ‘compliant’ is not being used by the City Council because of legal issues. The term ‘ready’ is being used and it would be appreciated if reporters used this also.

Where? Civic Chambers, Conference Rooms B&C

When? 9:30 – 9:50

Who will be in attendance?
