Ship ahoy at New Brighton Library

Canterbury Public Library has organised an exciting weekend of events to celebrate the opening of New Brighton's state-of-the-art library in the Christchurch City Council New Brighton Pier Building.

The festivities begin on Saturday July 24 with the official opening at 10am by Mayor Garry Moore and Peter Dunbar, chairman of the New Brighton Pier and Foreshore Society.

A fun-filled programme of activities and events will follow:

 

Saturday 24 July

11.30am – 12pm Natural Magic Pirate Puppet Show

12.30 – 1pm Coast Care Presentation

2 – 2.30pm Natural Magic Punch and Judy Show

2.45 – 3.45pm Face painting

3.30 – 4pm Meet Abraham the cat, star of Gwenda Turner's latest book, The Builders Cat.

 

Sunday 25 July

10.15 – 10.45am Children's storytime

11am – 12pm Local history presentation

1– 2pm Meet Tiki from Salmonella Dub

2 – 3pm Face painting

3 – 3.45pm The amazing Mr Moon

There will also be plenty of giveways including Salmonella Dub's latest album, Killervision, their new single, For the Love of It, and copies of the Builder's Cat.

Entry to all events is free.
