Mayors Site Attracts World-Wide Hits
Mayor Garry Moore is attracting international interest to his web site.
Since it was set up a month ago, it has captured the attention of people in Singapore, the England, the United States, and Switzerland.
In fact, a Singapore couple have said they are keen to migrant to Christchurch and an American expressed some interest in immigration, too.
In the first month nearly 550 hits have been made, mostly by Christchurch residents. The subjects have been wide ranging.
One said a weekend or daily food market similar to one in Auckland would great benefit Christchurch and the central city area. Another said charging the sick, injured, and worried patients and visitors at Christchurch Hospital to park cars is a disgusting way to make money. "They have enough to worry about without having to worry about getting a ticket or how long their car is parked", he wrote.
Other subjects ranged from graffiti, immigration, and the Wizard.
Now the forum is to be expanded.
Soon selected letters will be placed in a special section, much like Letters to the Editor columns in newspapers.
When users write their messages to the Mayor they can state if they wish to have the letter considered for inclusion in the letters section.
Mr Moore went on line to spur residents discussion on council activities and his web site can be found at www.christchurchmayor.org.nz
