Cathedral Square Redevelopment Official Opening

4pm, Tuesday 21 December

Four Ships Court, Cathedral Square

The Mayor Garry Moore will officially open the Cathedral Square Redevelopment tomorrow (Tuesday 21 December) at 4pm, Four Ships Court (near the old Post Office Building).

The opening will include a karakia from Ngai Tahu and a blessing from Bishop David Coles (representing the Cathedral and Anglican Church). The Wizard will be present to cast his magic. The event will conclude with songs from the three-part harmony called Volare (which consists of Nicki Reece, Colette Chapman and Elizabeth Braggins) which specialises in jazz and swing.

Father Christmas will also be present with balloons and sweets for children.

"This opening is the culmination of several years hard work both in the planning and construction stages of the redevelopment. Whilst this is a formal occasion it will be a celebration and one which I hope many Christchurch people will find time to attend during their festive preparations."
