Lunchtime Concert Series
The Christchurch City Council proudly presents the following artists in upcoming free
Cathedral Square Lunchtime Concerts:
Malcolm Lane and Steve Gainsford
Friday 18 December, 12.00pm to 1.00pm
Malcolm Lane and Steve Gainsford will perform together in the Friday Lunchtime Concert in Cathedral Square on 18 December.
The two are familiar to the Christchurch music scene, having performed individually and as a duo at the Arts Centre and various festivals such as Blues, Brews and BBQs. Steve is an original member of the long-established blues/rock group The Zipper while Malcolm has performed at the Blues Bar since the 70s.
The duos repertoire covers a wide ranged of blues styles, including covers by the likes of Neil Young, Van Morrison and Buddy Holly and originals numbers.
Fiddlesticks
Monday 21 December, 12.00pm to 1.00pm
Christmas shoppers can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the festive season with a concert by Fiddlesticks.
The popular duo kick off the Christmas Lunchtime Concert series on Monday 21 December.
Karen and Jacko Jackson have been performing together for six years and in that time have won many awards including the instrumental section of the Gold Guitar Awards twice.
As well as playing regularly at concerts and festivals, Fiddlesticks also perform at schools throughout the South Island. Their music, which ranges from wild fiddle tunes to soulful ballads, encompasses country, blues, jazz, Irish and rock. Karen and Jacko both sing and play electric guitar, acoustic fiddle and guitar.
