LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR
Letters have been sent to the 1500 neighbourhood support groups in Christchurch asking them to be involved with Neighbourhood Week, running from 1 to 7 March.
The idea is an initiative of the Shirley/Papanui Community Board and has been adopted by other Community Boards, and is being run City-wide.
Neighbourhood Week encourages residents to meet and talk to each other to build community and make our City Safer.
Organiser Sue Wells says that there is a clear goal for Neighbourhood Week, "Our vision is that in three years all residents of Christchurch will know the names of their neighbours."
Activities may include getting a group together, have a picnic, form a neighbourhood support group or meet new neighbours.
