Contract awarded for Pool and Leisure Complex
on the site of the Centennial Pool

The Christchurch City Council has awarded Naylor Love Ltd the $4.99m building contract for the construction of a pool and leisure complex on the site of the former Centennial Pool complex in Armagh Street.

The complex is to include a six lane 25 metre training pool, sauna and steam rooms, a swirl pool and a 200 square metre leisure pool featuring a rain drop unit, a lazy river channel and a bubble pool.

The complex will also be fitted out with an air conditioned fitness centre.

Construction on site is to start early May with completion scheduled for April 1999.

“This is an exciting inner city facility - a total leisure and fitness destination - not only for families, residents and workers of the central business area but for all the people of Christchurch to enjoy for both health and relaxation.”
