Year 2000 Millenium bug
Christchurch City Council is a long way ahead of many other organisations in dealing with the year 2000 computer millenium bug, and residents can be assured that this issue is being taken very seriously by their Council.
Christchurch City Council has set 22 June 1999, a full six months ahead of the required date, as our deadline for having fully addressed all Year 2000 issues and receiving our compliance certificate.
All Council service units have investigated their operations and have reported back to our Year 2000 compliance office who are investigating and checking all aspects of the Council’s services. All suppliers who provide services to the Council have been contacted and asked to assure us they too will meet Year 2000 compliance so that no services will be interrupted that could affect our service delivery.
I hope this goes someway to alleviating any concerns that your correspondant (GP Cust, 11 November), and any other residents may have.
