The Christchurch City Council is pleased to announce that the Council has approved the formation of a company to be known as Jade Stadium Limited.
The Company will be responsible for the development of new facilities at Jade Stadium and the operations of the existing business under a management contract from Victory Park Board which is currently responsible for the Park.
The Chairman of the new company will be Bruce Irvine. Bruce is the Managing Partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and has extensive experience in providing financial, strategic and governance advice to broad spectrum of industries.
Other members of the Board will be:
Dr Paddy Austin who is currently director of the Arts Centre and has skills in organisational development, marketing and strategic thinking;
Hanlin Johnstone who is a professional director with an engineering/project management background with Fulton Hogan;
Mike Prendergast who is the owner/manager of Avonhead Fresh Choice supermarket, is a professional director and has skills in marketing and management;
Vicki Buck is well known for her comprehensive leadership skills with particular strengths in marketing and a strong commitment to ensure that the project meets the needs of the community and takes advantage of opportunities for benefiting the local economy through tourism.
David Close is currently chairman of Council’s Strategy and Resources committee, he is also a director of Christchurch City Holdings Limited and through exposure to the monitoring of Councils various trading companies is attuned to commercial and financial issues.
Ron Wright is a senior Councillor currently responsible for major projects who has longstanding commercial experience in property development through his former position as Property manager for Magnum Corporation.
Apart form their personal skills for a position on the board Councillors Wright and Close have been appointed to provide continuity from the former Lancaster Park Sub-Committee which until now has been responsible for the project.
