New art Gallery Design Competition winner - announcement imminent
Assessment of the Stage Two submissions for the architectural design competition for the new Christchurch Art Gallery is well on target.
We have received five diverse, considered and exciting design submissions. The panel is completing the challenging task of assessing each one and is confident that its deliberations will be completed to permit an announcement to be made on 25 November 1998. Which ever design is finally selected Christchurch can be confident of a striking landmark quality arts facility.

The competition was a two stage process:
Following advertisements advising the architectural profession of a nationwide competition Stage One saw the submission of 94 designs from up and down the country. A short list of five was selected and for Stage Two these five were required to submit further detail and development of those designs.
