Dance exponents invited to meeting.
Christchurch Festival of Dance, 26 September to 12 October
Local dance enthusiasts will meet with the Christchurch City Council’s events team next weekend to discuss plans for the inaugural Christchurch Festival of Dance.
Since the announcement of the festival, dozens of dance clubs, tutors, performers, promoters, businesses and cultural groups have registered their interest in becoming involved. The meeting on Sunday 3 August will be an opportunity for interested groups and individuals to meet the Council’s events team and offer their ideas on how they see the festival developing. The events team will also explain the processes involved in the co-ordination of the 1997 festival.
The festival’s publicity co-ordinator, Katie Macbeth, says “The festival will only be as good as the events it contains and the enthusiasm of the people organising them so we’re really keen to get their input right from the start.” Anyone interested in attending the meeting should contact Perry Walker at the Christchurch City Council on 941 8523.
