The Christchurch City Council has approved for consultation draft amendments to the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) 2006-16 relating to the costs and funding of the proposed kerbside collection service.
At its meeting on 4 March 2008 the Council resolved to adopt a proposed three-bin kerbside collection system. The additional cost for the system will be $6.2 million in 2008/09 and $12.4 million in 2009/10. The costs have been budgeted for in the Council’s Draft Annual Plan 2008/09 and are now included in the draft amendments to the LTCCP 2006/16.
Also on 4 March the Council approved the rate and user charge funding of the new service. The draft amendments include the proposed amendment of the Council’s Revenue and Financing Policy. If endorsed, this amendment will enable the funding mechanism to be put in place.
The amendments will be released for public consultation from Monday 31 March 2008, with submissions closing 5pm on 1 May 2008. Hearing dates are set down for 12,13,14 May 2008. Copies of the proposed draft 2008 Amendments to the LTCCP 2006-16 will be available from 31 March 2008 at all Council service centres and libraries, and online.
Submissions were open from Monday 31 March to Thursday 1 May 2008.
