REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

1. ANNUAL REPORT AND AUDIT REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 1997

Laid on the table is a copy of the draft Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 30 June 1997. Councillors have been furnished with individual copies of the report. The Audit Sub-Committee met on 17 November to consider the draft Annual Report, and the Sub-Committee is reporting separately to the present meeting.

The Report of the Audit Office on the financial statements and the performance information contained in the report is separately circulated.

Recommendation:

That, in terms of section 223E(1) of the Local Government Act 1974 the Council resolve to adopt the Financial Statements and Audit Report thereon for the year ended 30 June 1997 together with the other elements of the Annual Report.
That the report be printed and made available for public inspection at public libraries, service centres and the Civic Offices and that any citizen requesting a copy be provided with the same free of charge.
