1. CAPITAL PROGRAMME REVIEW PROJECT RR 6435
1. WASTE MANAGEMENT
(i) Solid Waste
The capital budget for the Solid Waste section of the unit was tabled. Committee members reviewed the provision for the Council's share of the new landfill site investigation and development. A provision of $6.92m had been included in the draft budget being 43% of the estimated expenditure of $16m. This provision has been increased to 48% by the Committee which recommended to the Strategy and Resources Committee that the provision be increased to $7.76m.
Other recommendations from officers were adopted providing a saving of $2.83m over the five year review period (schedule attached).
(ii) Liquid Waste
Savings recommended in the report circulated with the agenda were supported by the Committee, the total savings being $4,468,500 (schedule attached).
2. WATER SERVICES
The Water Services Unit capital draft budget was tabled.
(i) Reticulation
A saving of $200,000 was identified for recommendation to the Strategy and Resources Committee (schedule attached).
(ii) Headworks
A saving of $280,000 was identified in this area (schedule attached).
(iii) Land Drainage
The programme submitted to the Committee by officers was supported for recommendation to the Strategy and Resources Committee.
The meeting adjourned at 3.30 pm to reconvene at 3.00 pm on 5 November 1997 to review the City Streets Unit capital programme.
3. CITY STREETS
A five year project priority list was tabled (copy attached) and considered by the Committee. Some amendments were made, resulting in savings of $1.427m over the five year period.
The meeting concluded at 6.00 pm.
