RECOVERED MATERIALS SPECIAL COMMITTEE

13 MARCH 1997

A meeting of the Recovered Materials Special Committee

was held on Tuesday 13 March 1997 at 4.00pm

PRESENT: Councillor Denis O'Rourke (Chairman),

Councillors David Close and Garry Moore,

Messrs Mike Hannah (until 5.20pm), Chris Pickrill, Mark Prain and Peter Townsend (from 4.40pm).

APOLOGIES: An apology was received and accepted from Councillor Ian Howell and an apology for lateness was received and accepted from Peter Townsend.

The Committee reports that:

PART B - ITEMS DEALT WITH BY THE COMMITTEE AND

REPORTED FOR INFORMATION ONLY

1. PROMOTIONAL ROLES FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT/RMF TRUST

A preliminary draft for discussion on the promotional roles for the Council and Recovered Materials Foundation, prepared by the Waste Management Unit, was considered. Following some amendments and additions, it was resolved that the promotional role outlined in Table 1 be adopted.

2. KERBSIDE PROMOTION/EDUCATION PROGRAMME

This report provided an overview of the planned programme for kerbside recycling promotion and education, summarising goals and budget provision for its implementation.

It was resolved that the promotion and education budget and strategy be referred to a Sub-Committee comprising Councillor Denis O'Rourke, Mark Prain, Sarah Gordon and Sue Skeet, and subject to availability, Wayne Ormandy.

3. WASTE MANAGEMENT UNIT BUDGET ALLOCATIONS FOR ADVERTISING/PROMOTION

The Waste Unit's Manager spoke to a paper which he had tabled.

It was resolved that this report be received for information and referred to the Sub-Committee.

The meeting concluded at 5.53pm.
