The purpose of this report is to seek a replacement for Councillor Ian Howell who has indicated his wish to resign as a Director of the Canterbury Development Corporation.
BACKGROUND
Currently the Mayor, Vicki Buck, Councillors Ian Howell, Garry Moore, Oscar Alpers and Newton Dodge serve as Directors on the Canterbury Development Corporation, as nominees of the Christchurch City Council, as prescribed in the constitution of the Corporation (Section C(7.1)).
The constitution provides for one half in number of the Directors of the Corporation to be persons nominated by the Christchurch City Council and the other half to be suitably qualified and eminent members of the Canterbury community.
Councillor Ian Howell has indicated his wish to resign as a Director of the Canterbury Development Corporation and accordingly another elected representative needs to be nominated to replace him. Councillor Howell will, however, continue to serve as a Trustee on the Canterbury Development Corporation Trust.
The CDC Trust recently appointed Mr Murray Begg to the Board of CDC. Mr Begg is the manager of the Last Footwear Company.
Chairman's Recommendation: That Councillor Howell be thanked for his work for the Canterbury Development Corporation and the Council nominate a further Councillor as a Director of the Canterbury Development Corporation.
CONSIDERED THIS 25TH DAY OF JUNE 1997
