GLASS RECYCLING SPECIAL COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Glass Recycling Special Committee
was held on Monday 16 December 1996 at 12 noon
PRESENT: Councillor Denis O'Rourke (Chairman),
Councillors David Close, Garry Moore, Michael Hannah (Canterbury Manufacturers' Association), Chris Pickrill (Canterbury Development Board), Mark Prain (Sustainable Cities Trust), Peter Townsend (Canterbury Employer Chamber of Commerce).
APOLOGIES: An apology for absence was received and accepted from Councillor Ian Howell.

1. RECOVERED MATERIALS FOUNDATION TRUST
Amendments to the Draft Trust Deed had been made by Buddle Findlay at the request of the Committee.
The Trustees (excluding David Dougherty of Seattle) signed the Trust Deed which will be forwarded for incorporation when David Dougherty's signature has been obtained.
A copy of the Declaration of Trust is tabled.
2. CO-ORDINATOR - RECOVERED MATERIALS FOUNDATION TRUST
A panel appointed by the Committee interviewed applicants for the position of co-ordinator for the Recovered Materials Foundation Trust. Mr Piet Buckman was selected.
It was resolved to recommend to the Recovered Materials Foundation Trust that Mr Piet Buckman be appointed co-ordinator.
It was noted that all intellectual property and information provided for the Foundation would remain the property of the Foundation.
3. GRANT TO RECOVERED MATERIALS FOUNDATION TRUST
It was resolved that a grant of $50,000 be forwarded to the Trust (Source of funds: Waste Management Unit Budget 1996/97, Grants and Subsidies).
4. ITEMS RECEIVED
The Committee received the following items:
4.1 Report and Presentation on Education and Promotion of Waste Minimisation.
4.2 Report on Existing Recycling Industries
The meeting concluded at 2.00 pm.
