1. GENGHIS KHAN EXHIBITION

Consideration was given to the report by the Chairman of the Strategy and Resources Committee appended to the agenda, and a further report by the Chairman which was tabled at the meeting.

It was resolved on the motion of Councillor Close seconded by Councillor Wright that the Council agree to underwrite the Genghis Khan exhibition, subject to the Director of Finance being satisfied with the business plan prepared by the Museum.

(11.20 am Councillor Condon arrived)

2. SONGPA SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP

The Mayor tabled a fax which had just been received from the Mayor of Songpa, extending an invitation for the Deputy Mayor and Councillor Margaret Murray to visit Songpa, with hotel accommodation, meals and city transportation costs within Korea being met by Songpa for both visitors, with Songpa also meeting the airfare for the Deputy Mayor.

The Mayor advised that it had not been possible to include this item in the agenda for the reason that the invitation had only just been received. It could not be deferred to a subsequent meeting, as Songpa was pressing for an early reply.

It was resolved on the motion of Councillor Close seconded by Councillor Buist:

1. That the invitation be received and considered at the present meeting.

2. That authority be granted for the Deputy Mayor and Councillor Murray to visit Songpa as official representatives of the Christchurch City Council on the basis outlined in the letter from the Mayor of Songpa, with the Christchurch City Council bearing the cost of Councillor Murray's return airfare.

3. RESOLUTION TO EXCLUDE THE PUBLIC

It was resolved on the motion of the Mayor seconded by Councillor Close:

1. That the resolution to exclude the public set out on the pink sheet attached to the agenda be adopted.

2. That Mr Peter Taylor (Ernst and Young) and Mr Mark Russell (Buddle Findlay) be permitted to remain at the meeting following the exclusion of the public, because of their involvement with the due diligence process relating to the proposed purchase of Travis Country Estates Ltd.
