Thinking of holding a neighbourhood event? Some funding may be available
Chance to meet: A neighbourhood BBQ held during Neighbourhood Week 2000.
You may have heard about Neighbourhood Week, which runs each year in the last week of October.
You might like to make a note in your diary that this year it will be held over the period of Friday, 27 October until Saturday, 2 November.
During that time many neighbourhoods run small street parties and local events.
The Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board Neighbourhood Week Sub Committee offers small amounts of funding to neighbourhoods to assist with those events.
Here are some of the things that you could make happen in your area:
- a street barbeque
- neighbourhood garage sale
- neighbourhood park or kerbside planting
- a games afternoon (for children and adults)
- neighbourhood picnic
- a walk around local areas of interest
Although Neighbourhood Week isn't until October it may be something your street might like to think about for a while - put the idea out there! If you'd like to know more please feel free to call Jane on 332 3099.
Keep an eye out for more information coming your way in September.
