Good gardeners thanked

The Shirley/Papanui Community Board Chairperson and Board member present certificates at the Garden Awards.

Christchurch City Council staff and members of the Christchurch Beautifying Association recently identified a number of properties in the Shirley Papanui community that make a significant contribution to the "Garden City" image of Christchurch.

It was with pleasure that these residents were invited to share afternoon tea with their local Community Board members and to receive certificates in acknowledgement of their efforts.

There are many residents within the community who due to sheer numbers made the choices difficult for those selecting and were not acknowledged this year.

To all of you also we would like to say thank you.

It is through the collective efforts of Christchurch residents throughout the city in keeping their gardens and sections well cared for that Christchurch retains its Garden City image.
