Fantastic fun day for children
Funboats will be one of the events at Children’s Day at the Groynes on Sunday, 28 October, 2001.
Shirley/Papanui Children’s Day at the Groynes is set to happen again this year, on Sunday October 28th.
Funded by the Shirley/Papanui Community Board, this year’s event is planned to be "bigger and better" than the last.
After having about 3000 attendees last year, more activities are planned over a longer time-frame, to cope with an expected increase in participants.
Get set to enjoy music, facepainting, funboats, storytelling, kites, bouncy castle, fun with the Park Rangers and a host of other activities designed for children.
All are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy together.
"Children’s Day at the Groynes is a fantastic way to celebrate Children’s Day," says the Shirley/Papanui Community Recreation Advisor.
"At last year’s event the only time I saw an unhappy face was when it was time for everyone to go home!"
Children’s Day, a nationally recognised initiative by Barnardos, the Office of the Commissioner for Children, and CYPFS to "put children first and show how much we value them." People are encouraged to spend time with children and make this day a really special one for them.
Flyers will go to schools and pre-schools in the Shirley/Papanui area in October.
Meanwhile, circle October 28th on your calendar and get ready to head to the Groynes for a day of fun with the children!
