Board allocates $10,000 for youth development
Olivia Bannerman is attending the Southern Ballet School with the help of a Youth Development Grant.
This year, the Shirley/Papanui Community Board has allocated $10,000 for the Youth Development Scheme. This is financial assistance for the personal development of young people in Shirley and Papanui.
Criteria for this fund are:
- Applicants must be aged between 12 and 25 years.
- Living in the Papanui or Shirley Wards.
- Projects should have an obvious benefit for the young person and if possible the wider community.
- The need for assistance must be proven.
Last year grants were allocated to young people for the:
- 2000 Pan Pacific Youth Exchange in Osaka
- 2000 International Judo Development Pacific Squad Tour to Australia
- 2001 Cultural Tour to France
- 2001 STS Youth Exchange to France
- 2001 Excel School of Performing Arts
- 2001 Southern Ballet School
- 2001 National swimming competitions.
Individuals or groups may apply.
Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year and are considered by a committee that meets quarterly.
