What does a Community Board do?
Functions
The Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board is made up of six directly elected members and three members (Councillors) appointed by the Council, giving a total of nine members.
The Board undertakes tasks delegated by the Council and also has input into the Council's budget process.
The Board has an obligation to communicate with community organisations and special interest groups.
It has an overview of road works, water supply, sewerage, stormwater, drainage, parks, recreational facilities, community activities and traffic management within its communities.
The Board is not a separate authority. It is part of the elected structure of the Council and reports each month to the Council in the same way as the Council's standing committees.
Board meetings
The Board meets eleven times a year at the Linwood Service Centre.
The date, time and location of meetings are publicly advertised. Additional meetings are held on an as required basis.
The final Board meeting for this Board's term will be held on Wednesday, 5 September.
The meeting dates for 2002 will be available in December.
The Avon-Heathcote Estuary: Among other functions, Community Boards have an overview of sewerage, stormwater and drainage management within their communities.
