Building relationships with community

The Hagley/ferrymead Advocacy team (from left): Clare Sullivan, Jeanette Whittaker, John Dunphy, Jude Pani, and Lynnette Ebborn.

Hagley/Ferrymead Advocacy Team’s value statement:
"By valuing our colleagues and their beliefs and creating an environment that provides services to all, and by enabling communities to develop the capabilities they have defined, the Advocacy Team will seek to achieve the Christchurch City Council Social Wellbeing Policy."

The Hagley/Ferrymead Advocacy Team is one of six Advocacy teams within the Community Relations Unit of the Christchurch City Council.

One of the key roles of the Hagley/Ferrymead team is to build relationships with the community. They are available as a direct link for the community to the Council, ensuring that people are heard and responded to. The team can assist in establishing networks and facilitate progress towards community development.

The advocacy team provides support and advice to the Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board and facilitates the Board’s forward planning, community consultation and participation and administers the Board’s discretionary funding. The team is also responsible for managing, supporting and promoting community facilities.

The advocacy team facilitates regular consultation forums. If you would like more information please contact us. Our offices are at the Linwood Service Centre, Smith Street.

It was with deep sadness that the Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board and the Advocacy team learnt in June of the untimely death of Liz McRostie. Liz had been a member of the board since 1995 and was a tireless worker for the community.

Liz will be sadly missed by the Board and staff at the Linwood Service Centre and people in the Hagley ward.
