What's happening ...

Redevelopment of the Parklands Community Centre.

Extension to the Parklands Community Centre

Opening of the major extension to the Community Centre on Queenspark Drive is delayed because the concrete floor slab of the new hall has too much moisture.

Steps are being taken to remedy this. It is intended that the Centre open later this year.

A multi-purpose sports hall has been added, with space for two full size badminton courts. Storage facilities have been increased for the community and sports groups based at the Centre.

The Parklands United Sports Club will occupy the original hall in the Centre.

Refurbishment of North New Brighton Community Centre

It is intended to start refurbishing the North New Brighton Community Centre on Marine Parade in 2001/02.

The initial focus will be on structural repairs to the outside of the building. Fire safety and emergency egress concerns are to be a priority for the interior work.

Consultation with users and the wider community on aspects of the interior refurbishment is starting.
