Neighbourhood Support Groups
Be a good neighbour by starting or joining a neighbourhood support group with the assistance of the police.
By enhancing local networks, the community is strengthened and your neighbourhood will become safer.
With little time or effort, neighbourhood support groups are effective in reducing burglaries and local crime.
The group could cover just a few houses or a street or a whole suburb.
What is involved?
- Get to know your neighbours.
- Contact your local Community Constable to meet the group and advise on how to structure your group (the Advocacy Team has contact details).
- Learn about how to deter crime, protect your property and keep safe.
- Share responsibility for keeping in touch with each other.
- Be alert to unusual activity in the neighbourhood and report anything suspicious to the Police.
- Distribute street signs and stickers advertising your neighbourhood support group around the neighbourhood.
