Key Roles

The keys roles of the Community Board include:

  • Advocating for the community in Council decision-making and budgetary processes.
  • Consulting community organisations and interest groups on Council matters.
  • Overseeing the provision and development of essential services including roading, water supply, sewerage, drainage, parks, community and recreational facilities and traffic management.
  • Supporting community development, employment initiatives and environmental improvements, in conjunction with community groups.
The Community Board meets monthly, in public, and reports to the Council on local matters or with a local perspective on wider issues.

Board members maintain active links with the community through working parties, site visits, public meetings and attendance at the meetings of residents' associations and community groups. Monthly Board meetings are advertised in the public notices of The Press and The Star. Details can be obtained from the Advocacy Team.
