How to get involved in your community

Residents' Groups

Become involved with your local residents' association and contribute to decision-making affecting your community.

Residents' associations are a major link to the Community Board and the Council.

Local residents' associations act as the voice of the community and as a conduit for information and consultation through regular meetings and newsletters.

Once officially recognised by the Community Board, residents' associations are informed of the Board's monthly agenda items and involved in consultation processes for matters affecting their community.

Typing and photocopying support is made available from the Advocacy Team.

There are 15 recognised residents' associations active in Burwood/Pegasus, as follows:

  • Ascot/Freeville Residents' Group
  • Avondale Residents' Association
  • Bexley Residents' Association
  • Dallington Residents' Association
  • Golf Links Residents' Group
  • Horseshoe Lake Residents' Group
  • New Brighton Residents' Association
  • North New Brighton Residents' Association
  • Northshore Residents' Group
  • Otakaro/Wainoni Residents' Association (in recess)
  • Parklands Residents' Association Inc
  • South New Brighton Residents' Association
  • Southshore Ratepayers' Association
  • Wainoni/Aranui Residents' Association
  • Waitikiri Residents' Group
  • Windsor/Westhaven Residents' Group.
In addition, a Queenspark Residents' Association is in the process of seeking recognition.

The formation of a Travis group would see almost all of Burwood/Pegasus covered by residents' associations.

If you are interested in joining or forming a residents' association, please contact the Advocacy Team for contact information or advice.
