Plan submissions roll in Public submissions to the Council’s Financial Plan and the Strategic Statement have been many and varied. Formal written submissions totalled about 750. Response forms printed in City Scene that concerned only the Council use of $175 million from the sale by Orion of North Island gas assets, totalled more than 600. Most responses, about 60 per cent, agreed with the Council decision to use $100 million for the repayment of debt and $75 million for an investment development fund. The Strategy and Resources Committee will consider the formal submissions, along with oral submissions, at hearings this month. On Thursday 12 July the Council will meet to finalise the Annual Plan. Large numbers of residents also used the April City Scene response form regarding the New Brighton development plans. The responses covered a wide range of suggestions and are being processed. The information will be fed into the design process.
