Taylor’s Mistake facility upgrade?
An upgrade of the toilet and changing room facilities at Taylor’s Mistake will be completed in the near future following public consultation which netted positive feedback from the local community.
The new building will consist of male, female and family changing rooms, will have additional toilet cubicles, a wash-down shower area and an outside seating area. It will also have several artworks which reflect the local environment integrated into its construction.
The Hagely/Ferrymead Community Board gave the go-ahead for the upgrade at its meeting last month after hearing that 85 per cent of respondents from the Taylor’s Mistake area were in favour of the upgrade.
Board chairman Bob Todd says the facilities, which are in line with the Council’s safer parks design standards, will benefit the community greatly.
“The design of the building is economically sound, the new facilities will be excellent and will fit into the environment very well,” he says. “The upgrade has been a while in the making and we are delighted to see it now going ahead.”
The existing septic tanks will also be removed as the new structure will be connected to the reticulated sewerage system. It is expected that the new facilities will be completed in time for summer. |
