Take a look at public transport
Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury (ECan) want to know what you think could make Christchurch's Metro public transport system even better.
Since 1998, the number of people using the Metro service has nearly doubled. This is largely thanks to the creation and implementation of the current Christchurch Public Passenger Transport Strategy — the Christchurch community's vision for a superior public transport system.
It is now time to develop a new strategy that will assist the Council and ECan to take Metro public transport onward and upward to 2016. Members of the public are asked to think about what our Metro service should be like in 2016, what goals we should be striving for and how they think we can get there.
Things to think about include our increasing population, increasing traffic congestion, the increasing average age of Christchurch residents and how to get the vast majority of us out of our cars and using public transport.
To make a submission fill in the online form at http://www.metrostrategy.org.nz/ or pick up a submission form from a Council service centre, Christchurch City Library, the Civic Offices on Tuam St or from ECan's Kilmore St offices. All submissions must be received by Friday, 31 March.
