Rates rebate info in May
News of changes to the Department of Internal Affairs' rates rebate scheme has triggered a number of calls to the City Council from people interested to know if they will now qualify. Until the Council hears more details, we are not able to answer this question.
The changes do not come in until 1 July and, before then, the department is planning a information campaign and road show to explain the new scheme to councils and the public. Set up in 1973, the scheme aims to provide a subsidy to low income home owners and ratepayers on the cost of their rates. At the moment the maximum rebate is $200. |
