Historic tours info on-line
Information about historic walking tours and longer historic trails, requiring public transport, has been so popular that the Council has put the brochures on its internet site for free downloading.
One brochure details central city and coastal heritage trails and the other concentrates on the city's gothic revival architecture. The latter brochure, produced in partnership with the local branch of the Historic Places Trust, has recently been reprinted and is now back in circulation.
The electronic versions are on the web, at http://www.ccc.govt.nz/Christchurch/Heritage/LocalHistory/.
The information includes maps and suggestions for the right buses to catch, should the trail take you out of the central city. They also provide much of the history of the various sites of historic significance that one would visit along the way. Information panels and plaques at various historical sites provide stories about the past. |
