Community waste schemes can apply for funding help

Individuals, groups or community organisations can apply for a share of the City Council's new Community Waste Minimisation Fund. The maximum amount per application will be $10,000, from the $50,000 available each year.

The fund has been set up in recognition that good ideas about how to better manage our waste are not the sole preserve of the Council or Government agencies. In the community there are good schemes and ideas but often these do not have the money to be developed into practical options which would benefit the community.

Such projects might include ways of increasing participation in recycling, reusing and recovering material or research or feasibility studies.

Applications for the current round of funding are required by Friday, 31 March.

  • For information about what should be included in an application and how they will be assessed, call the Council on 941-8999 or look online at http://www.ccc.govt.nz/waste/
