Clean-burning heating installed
The City Council has installed a new clean-burning boiler unit on the roof of its Civic Offices on Tuam Street, in readiness for the end of summer. The building's resource consent to operate its old coal-fired central heating system ended this summer and last year the Council decided it needed to replace it with a heating source which is more environmentally friendly. The new boiler plant runs on liquid petroleum gas and will be put to work heating the Council offices when daytime temperatures begin to cool in the next month or so.
