'Knowledge' Unveiled at Upper Riccarton Library
Knowledge, a sculpture by Christchurch artist Phil Price (pictured), has been unveiled at Upper Riccarton Community and School Library. A departure from Price's recent kinetic works, Knowledge is an abstract form of off-centred or cantilevered disks that resembles a stack of books about to topple over. Price says the work has a latent kinetic feel and provides a balance to the perfectly linear architecture of the new library. He hopes it will become an object around which people will gather and that people will like it. Knowledge is 3.2m, is made from a composite-mix concrete and sits on a Timaru Bluestone plinth. |
