Halswell Quarry Park A Hit With School Sports
Year Seven intermediate girls scramble for position at the start of their inter-school cross-country, one of several primary and intermediate events held at Halswell Quarry Park last month.
It is the second year the Council park has hosted these events and Lyn Miles, the Primary Sports Canterbury sports director, says the course is a hit with runners and parents. “We used to use Burnside but the kids wanted a bit more of a challenge.
This course is a good compromise between the flat track that the top competitors want and a bit of variation for others. The park staff are really helpful too.” Robyn Tobeck, of Lincoln Primary School, wrote to thank the Council after an event her school took part in. “It’s a wonderful site and I hope it’ll be available for many years. The competitors were full of praise for the venue.” |
